The lockdown was the trigger for the Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD) to develop a new magazine. Named after Friedrich August I of Saxony - better known as August the Strong – August brings together contributions from a wide cultural field including Alexander Kluge, Alicja Kwade, Clemens J. Setz, Florian Illies, Axel Milberg, Nora Gomringer, Leander Haußmann, Eckhart Nickel and many others. Each issue is released with a thematic focus reflected upon through artworks of the SKD. August is published in German and English, and is available free of charge. We were commissioned for the art direction and layout of the magazine, choosing to create a calm and clean layout for the bilingual magazine, playing with bold colors and typography for each contribution.
